2017 Microsoft Data Summit

Last week Microsoft held the 2017 Data Insights Summit which brought over 2,000 people from around the world to Seattle, Washington. During this two-day summit, there were various keynote speakers and breakout sessions designed to talk about what is the latest and greatest in data. Vizion Solutions was lucky enough to have been invited by Microsoft and here is what they brought back to us:

PowerBI Premium has been released. What is the different you ask between regular PowerBI and Premium you ask? PowerBI was designed with big corporations with many users in mind. Companies will be able to buy their own PowerBI server and can skip the hassle of adding individual people to groups, which will be a life saver for large companies who have a ton of users.

An upcoming feature of PowerBI that will be released next quarter is the ability to make a Drill-Through Page. Instead of having to apply the same filters across pages to gain additional insight, you will be able to drill down on a data point from a visual one page that will direct you to another page, already filtered to that data element. Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, James Phillips, said “as we create drill through pages, the PowerBI workbook becomes a hyper card interconnected system to drill from anything – to anything – to anything - endlessly.”

Another amazing upcoming feature of PowerBI is Bookmarks. Users will have the ability to freeze your page filters in time with the bookmark tool and go back to your analysis at a future point. Bookmarks allow you to save the state of navigation and jump back and forth which allows for an easier comparison between data and reports. The ability to chain bookmarks together allows you to tell a story with your data.

A Message to Our Partners: Clients, Employees, Vendors, and Colleagues Vizion Solutions has been in business for 17 years. We are truly proud of the company that weve become and the amazing culture that weve created. Since 2002, we have worked hard to transform from 2 employees in a garage to a thriving, talented team of over forty that was just named the 2019 Tech Company of the Year by OHTec. Weve come a long way and its been one heck of ride. As an implementor of EOS, Vizion Solutions leadership began to reflect on who we really are as an organization, addressing tough questions about where we were and where we wanted to go as an organization. What did we want to be? How can we achieve our 3-year and 10-year goals? This culminated in many offsite retreats and strategy sessions where our leadership team committed to defining who we are, why we do what we do and what were the uncompromising core values by which we operate. To no surprise this process of self-discovery and exploration
