Career Fairs: Not a Thing of the Past

In this day and technological age, recruiting efforts (like career fairs) have become more and more automated. Several articles lately express that recruiting is a dying field because technology allows companies easy access to a diverse candidate pool. While I will not disagree with that, I will say that it does not have the same effect/outcome as face to face interaction that you may gain at an event like a career fair.

Vizion Solutions and our employees pride ourselves on living by our 5 core values: Client Success, Teamwork For Results, Be The Best, Take Responsibility and Do The Right Thing. During the recruiting and interview process we look for candidates who showcase our core values and we ultimately use it as our number one recruiting tool.

Attending career fairs gives Vizion an advantage to meet their applicants face to face rather than just on a resume. Many interns and full time employees Vizion has brought onto our team have left an impression on us within the first moments we have met them (something that can’t happen by looking at a resume submitted online). While we do accept online applications, it is often difficult to assess a candidates cultural fit just by reading their resume. It may take many phone interviews and then bringing the candidate in for an onsite interview to be able to make that judgement.

Career fairs can prove to be beneficial for students even if they don’t land an internship. Attending a career fair forces students outside of their comfort zones and puts them face to face with potential employers. This gives them a chance to practice their handshake, communication and interviewing skills. This face to face interaction often allows employers to give students helpful advice about their resume or how to approach other booths at the career fair. The company’s main goal while at a career fair is to find a Rockstar candidate or two but they are also there to guide students on their intern/job search. As a student, do not be afraid to ask for advice; as an employer, do not hesitate to give it.

We may be a technology consulting firm but Vizion does not plan to turn to a completely virtual recruiting process anytime soon. We do not want to miss connecting with a great candidate and lose an opportunity to grow our amazing team. Contact us today to explore an exciting new career opportunity.

Oh, What ANight!!! On April 11, Vizion360 was named Tech Company of the Year at the 2019 OHtec Awards. It was an exciting evening as a crowd of a couple hundred Northeast Ohioans gathered inside Signature Flights hangar at Burke Lakefront Airport and watched as awards were handed out. Surrounded by tremendous talent, amazing organizations and industry peers, Vizions team in attendance was humbled and honored to be called up on stage as the recipient of the 2019 Tech Company of the Year Award. Accepting the award for Vizion was our CEO Joe Vocaire, in which he gave heartfelt speech and thanks to the community, the entire Vizion team and most importantly, the clients weve had the distinct pleasure of partnering with over the last 17 years. The Best of Tech Awards is a staple and closing ceremony (so to speak) of OHTecs Tech Week - an annual weeklong initiative to support, celebrate and engage the local tech community through a series of events. This year, the annual event honoring the

A Message to Our Partners: Clients, Employees, Vendors, and Colleagues Vizion Solutions has been in business for 17 years. We are truly proud of the company that weve become and the amazing culture that weve created. Since 2002, we have worked hard to transform from 2 employees in a garage to a thriving, talented team of over forty that was just named the 2019 Tech Company of the Year by OHTec. Weve come a long way and its been one heck of ride. As an implementor of EOS, Vizion Solutions leadership began to reflect on who we really are as an organization, addressing tough questions about where we were and where we wanted to go as an organization. What did we want to be? How can we achieve our 3-year and 10-year goals? This culminated in many offsite retreats and strategy sessions where our leadership team committed to defining who we are, why we do what we do and what were the uncompromising core values by which we operate. To no surprise this process of self-discovery and exploration
